Upgrading Mail server & mail files from 6.5.x to 8.5.x (8.5 FP1 or 8.5.1)

I saw an article on Martin Scotts blog about
SHOW STOPPER: IF you're upgrading from 6.5 to 8.5 and that you have to get the hotfixes for SPR LMAN7R6L44 and JCIK7PFGCT before you move any data.

Bad things happen to the 6.5 mail files according to that blog post.

Is that fixed in 8.5 FP1? I couldn't find the SPRs in the fix list...

Something wrong with how fields that weren't present in 6.5 but required in 8.5 cause havoc... especially around policies (which we currently only use for archiving, but of course want to expand soon.)
